Last night my parents, LibraryBoy and I headed out to my aunt and uncle's house in the country for an evening of bocce and relaxation.
Later in the evening after the sun had gone down and we'd gone inside before we were eaten alive by the bugs, we headed out once again because the fireflys were putting on quite a show in a field down the road. As my dad and aunt discussed the local "ki-otes" and frogs in the bush, LibraryBoy and I stood in the field looking up at the stars, fireflies zipping around us at top speed. It was magical, the stillness of the country, the clear sky with the twinkling stars, and the sound of frogs croaking somewhere in the darkness.
LibraryBoy leaned down, whispered 'I love you', and kissed me. I think the fireflies were a physical manifestation of the sparks I felt.
