I told myself I wasn't going to buy anymore movies for awhile, after spending $20 on DVDs for my Film and Multiculturalism elective.
Deep down I knew this wouldn't happen, and sure enough it didn't. Thankfully I only spent $30.
To celebrate being done for the week, April and I headed to the video store for a couple movies. After choosing Mean Girls [we both chose], Saved [my choice], and Beyond Borders [her choice] we moseyed [mosied?] over to the for sale area.
We both stopped at the previously viewed video bin where sign told us they were 2 for $10 or 3 for $12, where she promptly found A Walk on the Moon. Stupidly, she handed it to me knowing I'd want it. And of course, five minutes later she regretted it, having wished she'd kept it for herself. But there was no damned way it was leaving my iron fangirl grip.
I then found Sixteen Candles, and what's more fun than 80's movies on VHS?! And then I came upon Heavenly Creatures, one of Peter Jackson's movies from before he became the Lord of the Rings guy. I remember seeing Heavenly Creatures when I was about 12 and thinking how great it was, which either says a lot about my parent's parenting skills or my mental state.
I also got Rocky Horror Picture Show on DVD. I have it on video back at home, but I've wanted the DVD for the special features some time now. And in another stroke of good luck, it was actually $12.99, $5 cheaper than the price sticker told me.
Life is good, especially when it involves cheap movies.
