I went downtown after dinner to get out some cash for my dad and to hit the drugstore for a new bottle of nail polish. Bellan and I have second in person interviews tomorrow in Niagara Falls, and I have a weird tic that I like to get something new for every interview. I got a bottle of nail polish, as well as a tube of Maybelline's SuperStay lipcolour in Heather. I couldn't decide on a shade until BLAMMO! I saw Heather and had to get it. It's an omen, an OMEN!
I was feelin' good from all the walking, until I got home and was assaulted by my mother.
"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?! I'VE BEEN WORRIED!".
Oops, I didn't say anything when I left.
"Did you go downtown...there have been MURDERS downtown!".
Uhh, okaaay. This isn't exactly Toronto. We have a murder every 10 years, and the people that tend to be killed were killed for a reason by the person that killed them. We don't have random killings, although that 7 year old on a bike did have a murderous look in his eye...
It was still light outside, for Chrissakes. I also couldn't help thinking that if my brother had left like that she wouldn't have said anything except asked where he'd been. The old double standard! It happens a lot around here.
That woman baffles me.
