This afternoon, after a lunch of leftover chili and toast, I headed downtown for my job interview.
I forgot how much I miss walking.
Where I am in Ottawa requires transportation to pretty much anywhere. Algonquin is out in the boons, and everything is a bus ride away.
But here, in Owen Sound, I can walk. It takes about half an hour to walk downtown, which I don't mind as long as I have my CD player and plenty of battery power.
So I walked to City Hall, found the room I needed, and waited.
I hate job interviews.
They ask you such stupid questions, and expect you to come up with an answer on the spot.
//Which vegetable best holds your work qualifications, and why?//
And, the most fun, are the "what if?" questions.
//What if you're working with a co worker in the museum, and all of a sudden aliens land and demand cheese platters? What if you were alone?//
I mean, I'm not going to know how I would be in that situation unless I was actually in it.
Afterwards, I headed to the bank, and then Phoenix used books. Ahhh, the used book store. Is there a nicer smell? I enjoy used book stores more than regular superstores, because the staff don't bother you. They sit there, reading a book, and minding their own business.
I then toyed with the idea of stopping into the hobby shop to check out the action figures [ahaha, toyed with the idea! That was so lame it hurts], but held back. Believe me, that took willpower.
And since I've been home I've had an overwhelming drive to read, which seems odd. I could never read at school, getting distracted every page or so by something more interesting. I went to the library to get a couple books and to say hello to whomever was working. I talked to the reference librarian, and the women who were working the circ desk, and also one of my favourite people, Chris from the Literacy department.
Chris and I always got a long well, recommending books to one another and discussing literature when we'd meet at the photocopier, which was rather frequent. By the end of my co-op I had a rather stupid girly crush on him, I must admit. He embodies what I'd like in a man, which at this point in time is hard to come by. And despite our 15 year age difference, he would sometimes hit on me, which left me giggling like a school girl.
After that jaunt, I headed for home [had to be back to catch General Hospital!]. I stopped off for a Pepsi and Bingo card at the Kwiky Mart, and made it home just in time.
I lost on the Bingo, and I hope that isn't a sign about the job interview...
