Cabin fever struck with a vengence on Friday night, so yesterday I bundled up, caught the good old 172 bus, and went to IKEA, that Swedish wonderland of ergonomical furniture and cheap accessories.
I originally just planned on going to Chapters, which is in the same little area, but I remembered I needed to get a cheese grater for my mother. While in IKEA, I came up with a fantastically-sort-of-lame idea for a birthday present for Meaghan, which also involved craft supplies. So then it was on to Michael's, a massive craft store for said supplies.
Then finally it was on to Chapters, where I proceeded to drop $45 on new books I don't need nor can I afford...but dammit, I waaaaanted. After a blissful hour wandering around aimlessly, avoiding the random author doing a signing for a book I'd never heard of, [there was nobody going to her table, I felt bad for her] I realized I had no desire to go home.
So it was on to the mall, where I had a Greek-tastic dinner special from Kojak's. I wound up in Old Navy, and walked out with a black cardigan and a t-shirt. I still had 40 minutes left until my transfer expired, so I went down a level and into the Gap. My God, I love the Gap. April refuses to go in, because it's expensive and she has a thing against labels. I like the Gap not for it's name, but the quality. Besides, they usually have a good sale table. The next thing I know I'm buying a pink wool skirt on sale for $20 [regularly $80!]. Shyeah.
I got on the bus, 5 minutes before my transfer ran out, stupidly happy and proud of myself. I rode home with the sounds of Blue Rodeo coming from my mp3 player, smiling at nobody in particular.

Heather, reading of the pleasure you take in small things makes me happy. You are so inspiring.
Awww, thanks Denarina! It just makes me happy to think how far I've come and that I do now take pleasure in the little things like that.
