My parents had to go to Sears to get new pillows, so I tagged along so I could hit up the iRewards member appreciation day [or whatever the hell it's called] at the bookstore. I ended up buying Night Watch by Sarah Waters, and the first two Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books by Ann Brashares. I planned on waiting for the trade paperback of Night Watch, but the flesh is weak and I caved. I loved the "Ya-Ya Travelling Sister Pants" book [as Bellan calls them], so I figured today was a good day to pick them up. They'll be a nice summer re-read at some point this summer...or next. I wanted to get Christopher Rice's latest, but decided against it.
I love the way they price books. The first Sisterhood book was $13.95. The Christopher Rice book was $18.95. They're roughly the same size! I get that the Sisterhood books are YA, and kids in that demographic don't have as much money, but it's still lame.
I should go read, but I'll probably end up splaying myself on the couch and playing Dr. Mario on the ol' Gameboy.

Oooooh, I haven't read the new Chris Rice yet. I even have The Snow Garden I haven't read yet. Perhaps I'll put that on my neverending summer list. :D
I went to the Indigo yesterday to try to get a copy of the Birth House but they were all sold out. Phooey.
Andi: The Snow Garden was good. I didn't like it as much Density of Souls, but I'd still say read it. From the reviews I've seen of his latest, it's the worst book yet but if you're a fan it's okay.
sassymonkey: Too bad! My SmithBooks is the size of a walk in closet, so I'm lucky if they have anything I want.
Heather, I can't believe you said Dr. Mario!!!! You have no idea how much I love love LOVE that game. The music in it is something that just makes me happy. All that bloop bloop blooping and then the WOOOOOO swirly sound!
Put you back up on my blogroll now that you're back from the dead. xo
Woo, thanks Dena.
I stole my brother's Dr. Mario, which I'm pretty sure is from the original Gameboy. My personal best is level 20, and at that point I had just given up because my eyes were all squirrelly.
